| Bar | Type | Price | Tensile | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rogue Ohio Bar | All-around | $295 | 190K PSI | Best all-purpose bar — our top recommendation |
| REP Sabre Bar | All-around | $199 | 190K PSI | Best value — Ohio Bar quality for $100 less |
| Rogue Ohio Power Bar | Powerlifting | $325 | 200K PSI | Aggressive center knurl, 29mm shaft |
| Rogue 28mm Training Bar | Olympic WL | $295 | 200K PSI | Needle bearings, whippy for snatch/C&J |
| American Barbell Training Bar | All-around | $300 | 190K PSI | Smoothest knurling, best for high-rep work |
What to Look For
- Tensile strength: 190K PSI minimum. Below that, the bar can permanently bend under heavy loads.
- Knurling: Aggressive (powerlifting) vs moderate (all-around) vs mild (high-rep/hypertrophy). Rogue Ohio Bar has ideal moderate knurl.
- Coating: Bare steel (best feel, requires maintenance) > stainless > cerakote > chrome > zinc. Avoid zinc and chrome — they chip and feel slick.
- Bushing vs bearing: Bushings (most bars) for general use. Needle bearings for Olympic lifting (bar needs to spin freely during cleans).
